Suitable for New Practice Nurses, AP’s and HCA’s who wish to gain a basic understanding of asthma and COPD and who have not previously undertaken spirometry training.
Course content:
- How to perform spirometry
- BTS Quality Criteria
- NICE (2010) guidelines
- Use of spirometry in the diagnosis of COPD & Asthma
- Calibration and care of equipment
- The importance of using the correct technique
- Introduction to asthma and COPD
- Inhaler technique
The spirometry session will be facilitated by an accredited Senior Clinical Physiologist who will provide you with the basic knowledge and practical skills enabling you to perform spirometry correctly in clinical practice. You will have the basic knowledge required to perform spirometry safely in the General Practice setting.
This workshop is FREE to attend and will take place at the University of Essex, Southend Campus, SS1 1LW.
